Lava provides full-scale development of new and innovative medical device

Preceptis Medical is a Minnesota-based medical company focused on improving the lives of children. Preceptis came to LAVA Design to develop their idea for an ear tube delivery device. The Hummingbird Device was designed in partnership with leading pediatric ENTs to simplify ear tube procedures and create options for the procedure to be done with less anesthesia and outside of the operating room.

LAVA Design took an idea for the procedure and created an all-new way to deliver the ear-tubes. Starting with early research, LAVA brought the Hummingbird device through development, ideation, 3D prototyping, and all the way to design for manufacturing and tooling.

The final design provides a sleek, user-friendly product for both ENT doctors and their patients, while creating a minimally invasive, safe, and efficient procedure.
