Entry-Level Industrial Designer

Position Description

The Entry-Level Industrial Designer is expected to participate in design discussions and consolidate requirements from clients, user research, and engineering. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing innovative design solutions to address client needs. Daily activities include design concept generation, 2D product renderings, 3D design visualization and prototyping, molding and casting, detailed design specification, and production artworks.
The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through on multiple projects. They will be able to formulate his/her own solutions and communicate the design thinking to stakeholders and customers. Besides internal design reviews, the candidate will occasionally be required to travel to customer locations to present designs or participate in meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Take direction on projects
  • Collaborate in design and brainstorming sessions
  • Participate in user research activities and user experience studies
  • Create product designs in 2D and 3D formats for both in-house development or manufacturing
  • Prototype designs using in-house and 3rd party resources
  • Trouble-shoot development issues
  • Present design solutions internally as well as in front of clients
  • Develop products for manufacturing in 3D CAD (SolidWorks)

Qualifications:

  • High level Drawing skills
  • Passion for design and product development
  • Proficient in  Solidworks, Maxwell or Photoview 360, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and MS Office
  • Articulate, and comfortable making presentations
  • Degree in industrial design
  • Attention to detail and inventive problem solving
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and designing for production
